Intention?!

"DREI Tage keine Nahrung? Was geht mir Dir denn ab?"
"Du hast nen Knall!"
"Das ist ungesund, das solltest Du nicht tun"
"Dadurch nimmst Du auch nicht ab"

These were the first reactions when I told friends and family about my crazy idea to “reset” my cell metabolism and do something good for my body and mind.

18/6 As you know, I’ve been fasting for a while now. Sometimes very consistently, but sometimes I do have breakfast with the family or before long bike rides. But then I came across a video by chance as I was reading up more and more on the subject:

The Start

Today, Monday 11 December 2023, was supposed to be the day: We had a delicious gyros with coleslaw and tzatziki for lunch. Very tasty, also sufficient for at least well into the evening.

But it was dear Gerhard’s birthday today, so I discreetly replaced the delicious cake and the evening soup with water. Thanks to the pre-trained fat metabolism from the 18/6, everything is still fine at 9.19pm. My stomach feels a little light, but I’m not worried about starving to death in the next few minutes. Everything is tutti!

During my normal 18/6 fast, I also used to ride my road bike for two hours in the morning on an empty stomach and only realised after 15 minutes: “Hey, you haven’t eaten anything, so it’s more of an easy ride!”
But my concerns were unnecessary. It was a beautiful morning and the weather paired with an interesting route was fantastic. After about 30 minutes of driving, the initial hunger was gone and the switch had probably already been flipped to “fat burning”.

For those who would like to find out more, have a look at the topic of authophagy on Google or have a look here:

I don’t want to quote any grandiose scientific studies here, a few lines on detoxification should suffice as a start to the blog series.

I am therefore very confident that, although it could be an exciting experiment, it should pose absolutely no problem for me, even after consulting my GP. So… on we go and see you tomorrow!
